This programme uses a blended delivery mode with noho wānanga (face to face) supported by eWānanga (online learning platform) and an integrated work-based placement component.
The work-based placement component requires that tauira successfully complete 100 hours of work experience

Kaiako-led and other planned learning activities contribute to the learning in noho wānanga, online and face to face and those undertaken in self-directed learning time by tauira.

Total hours = 700 hours

Progression in learning and assessment is incremental, with the assessments and practical experiences becoming more challenging. Tauira need to pass the 7 modules in this programme to gain this Level 3, Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Healthcare Assistance Strand) qualification.

The achievement-based assessment mode for this programme will incorporate written, tuakana-teina sharing and group discussions, posters, presentations, demonstrations, reports, case studies, and portfolio.  Theory and evidence-based practise support the work-based placement components which are competency based.

A variety of teaching and learning methods will be employed throughout the programme appropriate to meeting the learning outcomes of modules, and to optimise the learning of tauira. Teaching and learning methods will include:

  • Accessing online sessions, tutorials, and assessment and evaluation activities
  • Participating in ‘intensive’ learning sessions that require them to be away from home the least amount of time possible
  • Engaging in a cultural and nursing mentorship within their community
  • Practise experience within their local area when possible

Note: This programme is offered via various delivery options including online, face to face and/or mixed mode options.  Please contact us to find out more.
