Mr Aubrey Temara is a senior leader of Ngāi Tūhoe iwi, an elder and convener of one of the Presbyterian Church’s standing committees. He is also a former secretary and clerk of Te Aka Puaho and was one of the chief negotiators of the Tūhoe settlement.

He has also been a member of Te Rōpu Manukura Standing Committee Member for the University of Waikato; Chair of Tūhoe-Waikaremoana Trust Board; and member of Conservation Board.

Mr Temara was awarded a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the Queen’s Birthday honours in 2004 for Services to Conservation. Mr Temara has been a member of Te Mana Whakahaere o Awanuiārangi since 2004.
