Develop your Māori language skills and learn about its application in a workplace environment.

The relationship between culture in the workplace has been well established, as is the idea that language is the cornerstone of any culture.

A knowledge of language can assist with client engagement and assessment. It can help build a positive rapport, improve compliance and likewise form the foundation for improved workplace outcomes.

This Māori language programme was developed with the workplace sector in mind, through consultation with managers, providers and staff and designed to build confidence and capability in the Māori language and to do so within a workplace context.

A tutor will also be available at set times so additional support can be provided if required.

At the end of this 18 month programme you will gain a basic understanding of te reo Māori and key health related kupu (words) and kīwaha (phrases). Importantly, tools to better engage within your workplace situations.

Duration

18 month programme, 4 modules

Delivery

2 hours per week (face-to-face) with self-directed and online learning support.  Classes are held at your workplace and structured around staff schedules
