Cleaner

Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi is a vibrant and exciting tertiary education institution which offers a range of programmes from certificates to doctorates across a range of disciplines. 

We are seeking a permanent part time Cleaner to join our Operations Department to work variable weekends and provide relief cover for other cleaners who are on scheduled leave during weekdays.  The cleaning work on weekends is variable as work is scheduled to align with confirmed weekend bookings of noho and meeting room/facility bookings by internal or external users.  The relief cleaning hours during the week are also variable. 

A pattern of weekend bookings indicates our noho and facilities are booked between 40 – 45 weekends out of 52 weeks each year.  Therefore, when noho/faculties are booked on a weekend the cleaning hours of work will be 3 hours each Saturday and Sunday from 8.30am – 11.30am.  The relief cleaning work during the week will be scheduled either Monday – Friday from 4am – 8am or 4 am – 12noon to provide cover in approved leave situations for six other cleaners.     

The Cleaner role will maintain facilities in a clean and hygienic state by completing routine cleaning tasks. 

Ideally applicants will:  

• Have at least two years previous commercial cleaning experience.
• Have specific knowledge of, and experience using cleaning chemicals, their identification, use, and safe storage.
• Be able to work unsupervised.
• Have effective time management skills.
• Have a good general level of physical fitness to use heavy cleaning equipment.
