Cleaner

Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi is a vibrant and exciting tertiary education institution which offers a range of programmes from certificates to doctorates across a range of disciplines. 

We are seeking a permanent part time Cleaner to work variable hours and join the existing team of five cleaners in our Operations Department at our Whakatāne campus site. 

Read on if you have the flexibility to work weekends when weekend hours are scheduled to support noho (3 hours each Saturday and Sunday morning from 8.30am – 11.30am).  Our noho facilities are booked for approximately 40-45 weekends out of 52 weekends in a year and that is why the weekend scheduled hours of work are variable).  Additionally, in this role there is the ability for you to work additional variable hours during the week Monday – Friday 4am – 8am OR 4am – 12 noon to provide relief and or cover for other cleaners on planned or unplanned leave.         

The Cleaner role will maintain facilities in a clean and hygienic state by completing routine cleaning tasks. 

Ideally applicants will:  

• Have at least two years previous commercial cleaning experience.
• Have specific knowledge of, and experience using cleaning chemicals, their identification, use, and safe storage.
• Be able to work unsupervised.
• Have effective time management skills.
• Have a good general level of physical fitness to use heavy cleaning equipment.
