Entry to the Professional Doctorate Programmes

Before enrolling for the Degree of Doctor of MDA, IDA, candidates shall:

  • Have at least three years of demonstrated experience in an area or field that contributes to the growth, development and well-being of indigenous peoples; And have either:
  • Qualified for admission to a Bachelor of Honours or Master’s Degree with first or second class honours, Division 1, or
  • Have been granted admission ad eundem statum (admission with equivalent status) as entitled to proceed to the degree of Doctor Indigenous or Māori Studies or;
  • Have completed a Master’s degree or;
  • Have completed a full year’s work full year’s work, at the equivalent of Honours level towards a Master’s degree or;
  • Have completed the requirements for the award of a qualification that the Doctoral Research Committee considers to be equivalent to a Master’s degree with Honours or a Bachelor degree with Honours, or
  • Have completed a ‘taught’ masters and can demonstrate 1. above or; satisfied the Doctoral Research Committee that they have sufficient background to pursue doctoral level
