Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi is a vibrant and exciting tertiary education institution, which offers a range of programmes from certificates to doctorates, across a range of disciplines.   The Te Pōkaitahi Reo (Kaupae 1-6) programmes are based at our Tamaki site in Manukau but the delivery sites are at various marae-based venues throughout Tamaki Makaurau/Auckland as well as at the Tamaki site.

 

We are seeking a Lecturer to recruit and deliver a cohort of Te Pōkaitahi Reo in semester 1 at Ruapōtaka Marae at level 1, and in semester 2 to recruit and deliver a further cohort at level 2 so that students in semester 1 can move to the next level in semester 2.   

 

As a Lecturer, your primary responsibility will be to plan and deliver quality lectures and assessments, to support learning through face to face and online mediums, monitor the papers and mentor students.  As a part of our academic staff you will be responsible for contributing to the successful delivery of the papers that are taught within your curriculum area.  The delivery of your cohort will be scheduled with twice weekly evening classes and five weekend noho (Friday evening – Sunday afternoon) over a semester.    

 

During the week, when you are not delivering your scheduled class at the marae, you will be expected to be based at our Tamaki site in Manukau in order to fully participate and support activities generally expected of a full time staff member of Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi including attending team and organisational meetings, compulsory and on job training, lesson planning and preparation, marking and assessments, noho marae proposal organisation and administration, maintaining student results and records and other related activities.  There will be some flexibility to work from home but not when classes or compulsory and on job training is scheduled.       

 

Our successful applicants will have:

 

  • A minimum of a diploma relevant to Te Reo Māori, a Bachelor’s qualification is preferred
  • Experience monitoring, assessing and delivering Te Reo Māori papers and programmes.
  • Experience in online delivery.
  • Tertiary teaching experience and a teaching qualification, preferably adult teaching.
  • Te Reo Māori proficiency to at least level 6, and a comprehensive understanding of Tīkanga Māori. Fluency in Te Reo is preferred.
  • A full clean driver’s licence.
