Lecturer – Bachelor of Mātauranga Māori

Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi is a vibrant and exciting tertiary education institution, which offers a range of programmes from certificates to doctorates, across a range of disciplines.
We are looking for a full time Lecturers to deliver the Bachelor of Mātauranga Māori programme. This programme has a blended delivery mode including online learning, face-to-face wānanga and noho. Teaching and learning will occur through twice weekly scheduled online classes, seven weekend wānanga noho (Friday – Sunday) with three noho delivered onsite at our Whakatane Campus and four noho delivered online.
Applicants must have:
- A minimum of a Masters’ degree that is relevant to the field of Matauranga Māori.
- A teaching qualification. An adult teaching qualification preferred.
- Previous tertiary teaching experience teaching up to level 7.
- Experience in the delivery of the prescribed course and programmes, specifically Tikanga, Tū Marae, Tirohanga Rangahau, Te Ao Māori, Whakapapa, Maramataka, and Hautūtanga.
- Relevant Mātauranga Māori practitioner experience in a Marae context.
- Proven research experience including research underpinned by Mātauranga Māori.
- Knowledge of Tikanga Māori and its application in Matauranga Māori settings including Marae.
- Fluency in Te Reo Māori however those applicants with an advanced level of Te Reo Māori competency and the ability to deliver in both English and Māori should apply.
- Networks with relevant marae, hapū, iwi, and community groups.

We are looking for a full time Lecturer to join the School of Iwi Development and to deliver as part of a team, the Bachelor of Matauranga Māori degree programme. In 2023 we will be delivering both years 1 and 2 of our new degree.
