Hei Manaaki is a one-year programme designed for those already working in the tourism industry or those interested in pursuing a career in this area. The 36-week programme equips students with a wide range of transferable skills and a thorough grounding in the tourism industry.
The programme is delivered via distance education using a combination of delivery modes. These include marae-based workshops, weekly tutorials, on-line tutorials, cluster visits by tutors, one-on-one tutorial support, industry-based workshops and self directed learning.
There are eight modules: communication skills, customer service skills, knowledge of the tourism industry, the legal environment, cultural tourism, professional development, Māori culture and history, and basic Te Reo.
