Programme Overview
Level of Study: 2
This is a one-year full-time programme designed to revive the spoken language of our ancestors through the daily use of karakia, waiata, kiwaha, whakaari, rangahau, tuhituhi and panui. These aspects form the basis of a unique set of modules that take the student on a personal journey of discovery.
In a supportive, friendly learning environment, students will have the opportunity to learn basic language skills and practise forms of spoken Māori, including performing mihi and speaking about local history and marae kawa. Through consistent exposure to tikanga Māori, students will gain confidence in their ability to participate fully in Te Ao Māori (the Māori world).
