Programme Overview
Level of Study: 4
This certificate programme introduces students to tertiary education. The
programme comprehensively prepares students for study at degree level by
developing the confidence, skills and knowledge needed for successful academic
study. In a supportive adult environment, you will learn how to study
effectively, undertake research, write reports and essays, and meet the
requirements of studying at the next level. Taught within a kaupapa Māori
framework, Te Aka ki te Wānanga is also designed to help students gain
confidence within Te Ao Māori (the Māori world). The programme seeks to broaden
students’ knowledge and understanding of their whānau, hapū and iwi connections
and heritage, establishing a strong foundation from which to embark on the
journey of higher learning.
