National Certificate in Building, Construction, and Allied Trades Skills - Level 1 & 2 

Programme Overview

Level of Study: 1 & 2

A National Certificate programme is offered in Level 1 and in Level 2. In these two courses you will learn basic carpentry, including the use of power tools, concreting, paving and other building skills. All tools are supplied and the course is delivered in a supportive environment on marae and within the community. The programme will prepare you for the workplace, introducing essential skills and safe working practices for the trades area. These are hands-on courses that will give you the skills to get started in building and construction. Each course lasts 12 weeks and is made up of units that cover the use of hand-held tools, concreting, fencing, project planning, first aid, basic wood furniture construction, measurement, and literacy and numeracy skills. When you have completed the course you will be on your way to a career in the building and construction industry.
