Matahihiko offers a unique learning environment especially suited to and designed for elderly learners (pakeke). Classes are structured in a way that encourages and fosters genuine learning for pakeke, and include opportunities to revisit and reinforce learnt concepts. Matahihiko offers pakeke the chance to engage in the digital world of their mokopuna/grandchildren.

Entry Details

Entry is open to applicants who meet the following requirements:
Minimum Age: 16 years old
Additional Qualifications: School leavers must produce their academic record. However, entry to the programme is at the discretion of Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi and is based on a number of criteria of which academic record is contributory only.

Description: Pakeke are introduced to a range of computing concepts and software applications. On completion of this module Pakeke will have a basic understanding of how to operate a computer and its applications.

DDescription: Pakeke build on ePakeke by further developing key skills in computer systems, applications and peripherals, eg scanner, digital camera, printers. On completion of this module Pakeke will have recorded and captured stories of their life to produce a chronicle.

Course Title:strong> ePakeke Tiketike
DeDescription: As well as consolidating earlier learning, Pakeke will be introduced to a range of multimedia software applications, on-line databases and research techniques. On completion of this module Pakeke will have developed a multimedia database.
