Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi offers a range of programmes, from certificates to doctorates, and provides educational opportunities to all Māori, New Zealanders and indigenous students. Of importance is the vision to promote, grow and sustain Māori language, knowledge and culture in all its manifestations and with regard to tikanga Māori practice.
We are committed to being world class. Our aim is to develop Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi as an outstanding site for Māori and indigenous scholarship, and that starts with the excellence of our people. We are proud of our committed and supportive teaching faculty and professional staff – a feature of our outstanding staffing complement is the large number of Māori academic staff who have doctoral qualifications as well as broad experience in their teaching and research fields.
We offer our staff a supportive working environment in which targeted professional development and research contribution are highly valued. A major focus is on providing top-level support for our academics and our research teams.
Our beautiful main campus in Whakatāne provides a stimulating work environment with national facilities that are second to none, and is centrally located in the ‘Sunshine Capital’ of New Zealand, picturesque gateway to the recreational and lifestyle opportunities of the eastern Pacific Coast and its unspoilt hinterland. Our other campuses are located in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) and Te Tai Tokerau (Northland).
We are always interested in hearing from talented individuals who are passionate about making a difference for our students and their communities.
