A new look campus at Whakatāne
Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi has developed plans for the re-modelling of its Whakatāne campus. With construction planned to begin in 2011, these new facilities will ensure students, staff and the wider community have access to first class, fit for purpose, tertiary education facilities.
This includes: a world class library with special collections; high spec video conferencing lecture theatre; a noho centre; flexible teaching spaces; student centre and student facilities.
A range of teaching, pedagogy, technology, and tikanga elements have been included in the design towards enhancing the utllity, comfort and feel of the environment these buildings will create. The main focus is improved facilities for students in the coming century.
Also, with more conferences coming to Whakatāne, and as the site for the receipt of international indigenous students in the future, the new facilities will ensure students receive the best in facilities and support.
The new facilities will provide a strong foundation for the development of the Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi Whakatāne campus and the wider Whakatāne community into the future.
