About Me
- Educated at Ruatoki High School and Hukarere Girls College Napier
- Trained as a General Nurse in Rotorua
- Married a Queenslander – resided in Australia for 24 years
- Remarried and returned home to Waiariki District in 1991
- 8 adult children and 16 mokopuna; some children and mokopuna are whāngai
- Immersed into community and church projects
- Bachelor of Matauranga Maori Graduate of 2007
Teaching Responsibilities
- Acquired a Certificate in Adult Teaching (Level 5) in June 2010, which has enhanced my programme deliveries to students in Matauranga Maori and those who are pursuing Bachelor of Education degrees
- Delivering academic student support, ewananga online services and pastoral care to students of all programmes on campus, on noho marae and distant areas such as Tairāwhiti, Kahungunu, Northland and Unitech.
- The Literacy and Numeracy Certificate has been beneficial in enabling me to incorporate and embed literacy and numeracy into all of the above programmes.
Research Interests
- Undertook Master of Maori Studies in 2008 and have completed three papers at the end of 2010.
- 2011: launching into the IHI 803 – Research Methods and Methodologies pre-Thesis paper.
