Unemployment Benefit Student Hardship

Forms can be accessed either online or through the Student Services Centre. The Unemployment Benefit Student Hardship is a weekly payment to help meet your living costs during your study breaks if you can't find work.

Criteria:

You need to apply for a student loan before you are eligible, there is a 1 week stand down period. Students who have a partner and/or children may apply for an allowance transfer grant where a stand down period is not incurred. You need to be registered with Student Job Search before you are eligible.  Visit www.sjs.co.nz to register your interest.

Training incentive allowance:

TIA will not be approved for student who will be studying a qualification higher than a level 4 next year (2011).  Therefore, many of our students may roll onto the Student Loans.  This should be considered if you discuss these options with your students next year.
