Community Education courses provide foundation knowledge and skills based around your marae and its cultural uniqueness. The programme helps to develop and strengthen Māori tikanga, āhuatanga and mātauranga Māori. Learning is marae-based and focuses on the cultural uniqueness of hapū and iwi. Māori communities that participate in these programmes have the opportunity for life-long learning.
Marae Participation
To participate in our programmes, an application can be made by a marae who must first attend a presentation conducted by Awanuiārangi. These are held on the first Tuesday of every month at the Whakatāne campus until enrolment targets are reached. If invited, our presenters will travel to marae to give a presentation on programmes offered.
