Research Office Establishment

The Research Office of Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiārangi was established in June 2010 to build staff capacity in research. Many staff are new and emerging researchers who need assistance in writing research proposals to secure funding to develop their own research ideas/projects.

The role of the Research Office

The role of the Research Office is to be the first point of contact for any research by staff at TWWoA. The Office is responsible for the centralised co-ordination, oversight and systems management of all Research funded projects conducted by staff from Public Good, charitable trusts, iwi and international sources. The Research Office acts as a conduit between TWWoA and the funding agencies and provides managerial oversight, advice and support for staff to build capacity for research through their performance based research funded portfolio’s (PBRF).

The role of the Director

The Director of the Research Office is responsible for providing leadership, coordination and strategic direction for all funded research at TWWoA. She also provides support for the TWWoA Research strategy, internal research capability (including PBRF) and advises TWWoA on the strategic direction for research at TWWoA. She is the interface between contract funders and Research Project leaders within the TWWoA and is responsible for ensuring all applications for funding are of the highest quality.

The role of the Administrator

The role of the Administrator of the research office is to effectively and efficiently manage the operations and administrative functions of the Research Office and PBRF systems, to assist and advise staff on the PBRF systems process and to assist the Research Director in the smooth running of the research office.
