Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi is a vibrant and exciting tertiary education institution which offers a range of programmes from certificates to doctorates across a range of disciplines.

The Tech Pa Drop-In Technology Centre Co-ordinator will be responsible for the managing and monitoring of the Tech Pa Drop-In Technology Centre including the After School Study Centre.

You will need significant experience with the Apple Macintosh computing platform, an understanding of academic management systems, as well as proven leadership and interpersonal skills. A relevant tertiary qualification in either Information Systems, Multimedia or Management is required.

Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi is a vibrant and exciting tertiary education institution offering a range of programmes from certificates to doctorates across a range of disciplines.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the activities within the Student Services Centre by providing both administration and reception services that demonstrate the wairua, tikanga and ahuatanga of the Wananga.

The key focus of this role is to support students by providing programme and enrolment advice, access to key resources, facilitating access and support with external agencies and assisting the student through a successful enrolment experience.

Just as importantly the role administers the operation of the on-line Wananga class timetable and facility bookings system.

For this position you need to know your stuff – have your finger on the pulse of the Wananga and keep up with changes. You will need excellent communication skills and be able to build positive relationships quickly. Proven ability to work both within a team and autonomously is essential. And those admin skills will need to be first class to stay ahead of the game.

Experience in the tertiary education and Wananga sector and the ability to speak te reo Maori along with a practicing knowledge of tikanga Maori are desirable.

We are looking for an experienced Student Support professional to join the newly established Mt Albert Campus.

We are looking for an experienced administrator for this busy role. As part of the Academic Administration team you will be assisting the Academic disciplines by providing student and academic support as well as undertaking office administration duties.

Ideally you will have:

  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint applications efficiently.
  • Excellent data input skills and touch typing expertise.
  • Experience of ARTENA Student Database or similar systems.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Initiative and the ability to work unsupervised.

Administration experience in a tertiary institution would be an advantage. Knowledge of Te Reo and tikanga Maori are desirable.

Student Support Advisor
Mt Albert Campus, Auckland Full Time

We are looking for an experienced Student Support professional to join the newly established Mt Albert Campus.

This position is designed to support and help students to develop the skills they need to achieve their academic goals and become successful independent learners.

The key focus of this role is to:

  • Identify and develop students learning potential by providing support in literacy, language, and numeracy development
  • Provide assistance with programme/workshop design and delivery
  • Provide assistance with student counselling and/or mentoring, either on an individual basis or in groups
  • Compile relevant learning development resources
  • Provide pastoral care

Our successful applicant will have:

  • A relevant tertiary degree, preferably at Masters level
  • Confidence in Te Reo Māori - both written and oral, together with an understanding of Tikanga Māori
  • Teaching and tutoring experience at a tertiary level or experience which can be applied to a tertiary environment
  • Experience in an academic learning support role
  • Experience in a Health Sciences, Education or Matauranga Maori related discipline

As the Wānanga delivers a number of programmes in weekend noho marae, the successful applicant will need to be available to work during some weekends. There may also be the opportunity for the successful applicant to work part time during May – June 2010 prior to the full time role commencing.
